This series is a meditation on an assortment of artifacts found on or nearby Highway 101 in Northern California.
The collections of landscapes any highway holds are a demonstration of the intersection between humanity and nature. We often take our daily environments for granted and rarely consider our constructions and the items that we leave along the course.
Highway 101 can be viewed as a modern day version of a river, a pathway that connects one place to the next, holding a collection of different landscapes. Even in the most mundane sites, objects such as automobile detritus, food waste, and plants unveil the symbiotic relationship between the natural environment and humans. It is impossible for these sites to exist without human imprint and nature both.
Each artifact holds a narrative of its own, sharing the bonded relationship between nature and human that is created through the existence of a highway.
